A Cumbrian winery
High Cup Wines are produced at Townhead Farm and Winery (CA16 6NF), Cumbria’s only commercial vineyard and winery, which prepares a range of fruit wines from fruit grown on the farm and in the local area.
Situated at the foot of the Pennines in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Townhead Farm enjoys outstanding views of the Lakeland Fells across the valley of the River Eden. It is located at the foot of the impressive U-shaped valley known as High Cup Gill, which runs from High Cup Nick, at its north-eastern end, towards the Eden Valley.
Our summer art exhibition will run during July and August. It will feature the work of fifteen artists who have proven to be particular favourites of visitors over the past 8 years. Full details here .....
This year all commission on sales will be donated to the charities British Heart Foundation and the local Curry Aid which supports an orphanage in India.
Sunday 3rd July, 2.30 - 3.15, at the Winery.
Julie Sandilands will be reading from her first Tales book: A Gypsy's Tale. All welcome - just turn up!
An interpretational and explanatory display of the geology of High Cup Nick and the surrounding area, prepared with the help of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Partnership was launched in 2011 and has created considerable interest. It has been expanded to include more information on the oldest rocks of the area. We also have available a range of new AONB literature on geology and walks in the area. Art and photography of this area by various local professional artists is also on display. Read more ....
