A Cumbrian winery
High Cup Wines are produced at Townhead Farm and Winery, Cumbria’s only commercial vineyard and winery, which prepares a range of fruit wines from fruit grown on the farm and in the local area.
Situated at the foot of the Pennines in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Townhead Farm enjoys outstanding views of the Lakeland Fells across the valley of the River Eden. It is located at the foot of the impressive U-shaped valley known as High Cup Gill, which runs from High Cup Nick, at its north-eastern end, towards the Eden Valley.

Our 2011 production of wine is maturing quietly and should be ready to bottle in the coming months. Meanwhile our 2010 wines have been selling well over the winter months and we now have less than 15% remaining in our cellar. Please note that the winery is open when we are here and our on-line shop is fully operational. See futher details of opening times here.
An interpretational and explanatory display of the geology of High Cup Nick and the surrounding area, prepared with the help of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Partnership was launched in 2011 and has created considerable interest. It is currently being expanded to include more information on the oldest rocks of the area. We also have available a range of new AONB literature on geology and walks in the area. Read more ....
